Holy, Holy, Holy???
Leviticus 11:40-49 (New International Version)
44
I am the LORD your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves about on the ground. 45 I am the LORD who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.1 Peter 1:15-16 (New International Version)
15
But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy."Definition:
“As He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy’”
We are to reflect God in us (1 Peter 1:15-16 NIV & Paraphrase).
We cannot be holy as God is holy but we are to try. The Holy Spirit will enable us to resist the temptations that will be thrown in our path. The more we try to be separate or set ourselves apart from the world the more intense will be the temptations.
However, we shouldn't allow these temptations or, perhaps, our failings from slowing our efforts to strive for holiness God through Jesus Christ and our acceptance of Him as Saviour brings us into the holy priesthood spiritually, we are then to work to bring our lives into that same holiness.
God sees our heart and knows the deepest feelings held there. Peter was the Apostle that first identified Jesus as the Christ but he was also the man that denied Jesus 3 times. God sees and knows which is the deepest and truest feelings.
